The Structure emits an invisible, world-spanning Grid.
The Grid is a lattice of subtle energy lines, forming a hidden foundation beneath reality.
Only a rare few can perceive or “catch” the strands. These are called Weavers.
Weaving is like working a loom—twisting, binding, knotting threads into magical patterns.
**Innate Talent **– Some are born attuned.
Attunement Rituals – Rare rites, relics, or trauma may burn resonance into someone.
The Structure’s Will – The Grid itself seems selective, as if conscious.
Snagging – Miswoven threads cause mental or bodily backlash.
**Overdrawing **– Pulling too much tears the Grid, spawning anomalies or monsters.
Dependency – Long-term weaving binds one’s soul, eroding individuality.
**Thread **– A strand aligned with a magical school.
**Pattern **– Knots or vast woven tapestries (from cantrips to rituals).
**Anchor **– Words, sigils, gestures, music, or emotions.
**Weft & Warp **– Interlacing schools for hybrid effects.
Abjuration (Binding Threads) – Defensive knots to repel, absorb, or redirect.
**Conjuration (Pulling Threads) **– Tugging Grid-lines to summon, stitch, or bridge.
Divination (Tracing Threads) – Following strands to glimpse truths or futures.
**Enchantment (Twisting Threads) **– Weaving strands around minds or emotions.
**Evocation (Unraveling Threads) **– Loosening knots to unleash raw energy.
Illusion (Overlaying Threads) – Painting false patterns to deceive.
Necromancy (Tearing & Rebinding) – Forcing life-threads back or draining others.
**Transmutation (Reweaving) **– Re-knotting strands to alter matter or states.
1. Only Living Things Can Weave
The Grid recognizes only life. Constructs, undead, or artificial beings cannot access it.
Exception: They may be vessels or anchors, but never true Weavers.
2. Finite Weavers
At any given time, no more than 1 in 10,000 people can perceive the Grid.
Of those, only a fraction survive training or resonance without burning out.
3. No Artificial Replication
Attempts to copy or mechanize weaving (via machines, runes, or AIs) always fail.
The Grid rejects imitation—it must be lived and felt.
4. Anchor Is Mandatory
Every weave must tie to a physical or mental anchor (gesture, word, emotion, sigil).
No anchor = spell collapse and backlash.
5. The Grid Fights Back
Misuse (snagging, overdrawing, tearing) causes permanent scars to body, mind, or soul.
Local Grid tears may birth anomalies or hostile entities.
6. Dependency & Corruption
The more one weaves, the deeper their soul threads into the Grid.
Heavy users risk losing individuality, becoming “Echoes” of the Structure’s Will.
7. Selective Resonance
The Grid may refuse someone, even if they are trained or talented.
Likewise, it may randomly awaken resonance in a person with no cause or reason.
"Weavers" or mages wizards sourcers, etc. Should be named characters are very small in number. This is balanced by the fact they have abilities that defy physics and reality. A single mage would could turn the tides of a battle. Change the dynamics of a hard fight etc. Somtimes their mere presence would be enough.
